Back in October last year – around the time of my birthday, funnily enough – I released my first non-business book, The Little Book of Inspiration.
For me, it was one of my proudest moments, because the book was truly a labour of love that had – literally – been years in the making.
While I’d published three books previously – Why Simple Works, The Parables of Business, and Influence Marketing – they were all very much business books, and tied into what my blog used to be about.
And while I was proud of them at the time, particularly Influence Marketing due to the fact it was my first published book with a “real” publisher, they were still just business books.
If you’re around bloggers in the social media/marketing space long enough, it’s a running joke that you ask them when their book is coming out, such is the expectation that bringing a book out is the next logical step.
So far, so predictable.
And while the books led to various praise and success, they didn’t quite “complete me”.
Step forward The Little Book of Inspiration.
Inspiration is All Around Us
Originally a project of mine by the name of “Help Me Be Inspired”, The Little Book of Inspiration is a collection of short stories and poems about hopes, dreams, fears and encouragement.
The blurb at the start of the book essentially captures my goal for the book when I was writing it.
The Little Book of Inspiration aims to be that opportunity to stop and savour not only the events around us, but the people, the experiences, the sights and sounds.
Through these inspiring stories and poems of love, redemption, and change, take a moment to really see all the inspirational treasures that are present.
As my first non-business book, it was a little scary to release into the public. Up until about 12-18 months ago, this blog had been very much known as a marketing blog, so it made sense for business books to come from me.
But a personal book, that really opens up into the hopes I have for the world, as well as the fears I have for raising kids in it, was something new, and I wasn’t really sure how it’d be received.
Thankfully, it’s been pretty well-received for the most part, with feedback like that in the image below.
As someone whose goal was simply to reach an audience that was looking for something different, perhaps something they needed at given times in their lives, the feedback was very welcome and gave me a warm feeling (which is always nice).
And now it’s available in print.
Originally ebook-only, the publisher of The Little Book of Inspiration, Morning Rain Publishing, has just completed the print edition and made it available through certain retailers.
- If you like buying from Amazon, you can buy the print version here (that’s a universal link that should take you to the country of your Amazon account). Just click the little box that says “paperback” and you should be good to go.
- If you’re Canadian and prefer shopping at Indigo, you can buy from their stores here.
- If you like to support independent book stores, you can check out which retailers partner the distribution channel my publisher uses here?for in-store and here for online.
It’s available for $9.99 (prices will vary based on currency), and should ship within a couple of days of purchase, if not sooner.
While I love myself a good ebook, there’s nothing quite like holding a print book in your hand, and savouring the words within no matter where you are (lazing in a hammock, commuting on a train, or lying on a beach).
If you like books, and you’re looking for a new read that offers a little bit of personal hope for us all, I’d love for you to pick up a copy.
Here’s to inspiration.
