The Value of Effort

The great one and leadership in business

The great one and leadership in business

?You miss 100% of the shots you never take.? ??Wayne Gretzky.

Think about that. Take it outside the ice hockey equation that Gretzky used it on and apply it to anywhere ? life, business, relationships, goals. How many are you actually aiming for and how many are you striking out blindly at?

Are you happy with where you are?

Have you reached the plateau that you set for yourself when you took to the playing field? Is your job just satisfying or does it fill your creative needs?

How are you using the tools and the people around you to benefit both parties? Are you playing a team role to attack goal, or are you being selfish with the puck? Do the fans call your name or the team?s? What?s more important?

What are you doing to improve your business? Are you reining it in and hoping that the bad times will pass, or are you thinking of new tactics to confuse the opposition and win new fans? How?s your coach ? is he/she a leader or does the team need better guidance?

Wayne Gretzky was a leader on the ice and continues to be one off it as well. His shots were always 100% with intent.

How?s?your aim?

Who Knew @pearsonified Liked Glee?

Chris Pearson AKA @pearsonified of Thesis theme

Chris Pearson AKA @pearsonified of Thesis theme

First, for anyone not on Twitter that’s wondering why the post title looks so funky, it’s just one of the ways you highlight a specific person.

If you are on Twitter and you use self-hosted WordPress as your blogging platform of choice, you’ve probably heard of the Thesis theme, one of the most popular premium WordPress themes around.

Its creator is Chris Pearson, who’s @pearsonified on Twitter. He’s had a rough time lately, with his theme coming under fire from WordPress over licensing issues (now resolved) and his partner at DIY Themes (the makers of Thesis) leaving the company to go to a competitor.

So I thought that it’d be cool to maybe help put a wee smile on Chris’s face and share his love of the TV show Glee with you.

Now. Take a look at the image of Chris at the start of this post, and then watch the video below. While the YouTube user calls himself Nick Pitera, I think it’s clear that Chris is using that name to allow his Glee alter-ego out.

What do you think, guys – new vocation for Chris while building Thesis 2.0? 😉

Google and the Birthday Smile

As some of you know, it’s my birthday today, so I’m taking some downtime and spending the weekend getting pampered (hopefully!).

But I just wanted to share this with you first, as it was a little surprise and it made me smile. Nice job, Google!

Have a great and safe weekend, guys, and see you online soon (and thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes on Facebook and Twitter). You’re awesome!

Introducing For Bloggers, By Bloggers

For Bloggers, By Bloggers

Last week, I wrote about a new blogging project we’re launching over at Bonsai Interactive Marketing. Today, we’re soft-launching it and I wanted to share it with you.

For Bloggers, By Bloggers

For Bloggers, By Bloggers is a blogging resource centre that will cover WordPress, Blogger, Typepad and Squarespace (other platforms might follow as the site grows).

Its aim is to be a resource centre for bloggers of all ages and experience, and will cover the following:

  • Generic and specialist blogging tips
  • Design tips
  • Plug-in reviews
  • Affiliate marketing and blog monetization
  • Videos
  • SEO and social search
  • Social media and social bookmarking
  • Business blogging
  • Theme and template reviews
  • And much more! 🙂

As well as tips and advice, For Bloggers, By Bloggers will also offer exclusive offers on themes, plug-ins, hosting and other good stuff attached to the fun world of blogging.

We’re also discussing opportunities with partners to offer products, services and other cool stuff that you won’t find anywhere else, to help you with whatever blogging needs you have.

And because it’s multi-platform, hopefully we’ll cover some of the things that similar sites might miss out on.

You can find out more about the project here, as well as the team we’re putting in place. This includes Aaron Lee, Frank Dickinson and Joey Strawn, with a couple more to be announced shortly. There are big plans for the project, so hopefully you’ll find something of value there.

Head on over, check out For Bloggers, By Bloggers, and we’d love to see you subscribe to keep up-to-date on all that’s coming your way.

Cheers guys – hope you enjoy!

Looking for a Few Good Bloggers

For Bloggers, By Bloggers

Over at Bonsai Interactive Marketing, we’re putting the finishing touches to a blogging project that we’re excited to launch – For Bloggers, By Bloggers.

For Bloggers, By Bloggers

While it’s still under wraps at the minute, I can tell you that our hopes for it is to become a solid resource for bloggers everywhere, of all descriptions and expertise.

To do that, we’re currently looking for three more bloggers, with one from each blogging platform: Blogger, Squarespace and Typepad.

If you’ve been blogging for more than two years and you have more than 12 months experience on these platforms, then we’d love to hear from you. At the minute, the “gig” isn’t a paid one as such.

However, you will be sharing in 60% of all ad revenue the project ever brings in. Since we’re limiting core team bloggers (or Authors) to just six, that means you’ll have a 10% stake in the complete project for the lifetime of your involvement.

Additionally, you’ll be free to use any of your own affiliate links throughout your involvement (you just need to make sure they’re disclosed).

Sound like something you’d be interested in? Then fill out your details below, and tell me a little bit about yourself in the contact box, as well as share some links to your blog posts that best reflect you.

Or, if you know someone that’d be a good fit, make sure to send them this way to check it out for themselves.

Look forward to hearing from you – cheers!
